While the announcement lacked any details about the said mobile version of the game, Riot Game’s Executive Producer Anna Donlon provided some key insights into the topic in an interview with Polygon.

According to him, the team started working with the question of whether they can make Valorant mobile without any compromise to the gameplay. They wanted to make the game feel the way it felt on PC but also add some key features to the mobile version to make it unique.

Rumors about Valorant Mobile

On June 2, 2020, the most dependable source of Valorant data-mined information; ValorLeaks tweeted about a tutorial in Valorant Mobile in the data files with the release of Patch 1.0.

Though nothing was officially announced at that time, people started spreading rumors about how the mobile game was going to be. Some said it was going to be playable cross-platform so Mobile and PC players can share the same lobby while some rumors suggested that the game version of the game is practically impossible.

However, it is now confirmed that the game will not have cross-platform functionality. Riot Games want to keep the PC experience the same while also providing a unique mobile gaming experience for the new mobile gamers.

Release Date of Valorant Mobile

When asked about a possible release date, Anna Donlon said that much work is still undone but people can surely expect it to drop in year two.

Valorant Console?

Yes. Anna also confirmed that they are indeed planning on a console version of the game. She said that this project will start after the mobile version of the game goes live. The transition from PC to console will be much harder than the mobile as it’s very much hard to have that level of competitive integrity Valorant has right now on a platform where the controller is fighting you for that. So, they wanted to focus on the mobile version first. The console version is not going to drop anytime before year three.
