Ubisoft is kicking off the Year 6 of Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege in style. Season 1 of year 6 features a reworked Border map, a new secondary weapon, the much-anticipated match replays, and of course, a brand new attacking operator who is known as Flores. All of these and more are coming to Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege with Operation Crimson Heist which will be released on March 16th, 2021. So, with that being said, let’s take an in-depth look at everything that Operation Crimson Heist has to offer.
RELEASE DATE
Operation Crimson Heist is going to be released on March 16th, 2021. Right now, The Operation is already available on the test server of Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege.
NEW OPERATOR: FLORES
Hailing from Argentina, Santiago ‘Flores’ Lucero is the latest operator to join the attacking roster of Team Rainbow. He is a two-speed, two-armor attacker whose special gadget is the RCE-Ratero Charge, which is essentially an explosive that can be deployed as a drone. However, unlike a normal drone of Rainbow Six Siege, the RCE-Ratero Charge can only move in the forward direction and it cannot be stopped unless it is destroyed or the explosive is triggered. Flores can steer the drone for about 10 seconds, following which the drone attaches to its nearest location, becomes invulnerable, and explodes a few seconds later. Flores can even trigger the explosion manually as well.
The RCE-Ratero Charge is a nightmare for the defenders as it can potentially destroy almost every defender gadget out there, including Maestro’s Evil Eyes. The drone can also be used for destroying non-reinforced hatches, soft walls and can even kill a defender if caught within the blast radius. It must be noted here that the defenders get plenty of warning before the explosion due to a sound created by the drone when it attaches to a surface, giving them enough time to leave the blast radius.
While in motion, the RCE-Ratero Charge can be stopped or destroyed by bullets, Mozzie’s Pests, electricity, lasers, or by Mute Jammers. However, once the charge is activated its sticks to its nearest surface and becomes indestructible.
Coming to Flores’s loadout, he has a choice between AR33 (fully automatic assault rifle) and SR-25 (semi-automatic DMR) for his primary weapon slot. His secondary weapon is the GSh-18 pistol, and his secondary gadget consists of a claymore or three stun grenades.
BORDER REWORK
Operation Crimson Heist will not bring any new map to the game, instead, we will be getting a reworked Border map. The newly reworked map will have several notable additions and adjustments, for example, the 1F Bathroom bomb site will now be extended. A new exterior staircase will be added that will lead to the 2F archives office balcony, and a new interior balcony to connect the East stairs to the 2F break room.
Overall, the reworked Border map will have a much cleaner look and improved mobility options, while also maintaining the core identity of the map.
GONNE-6
Operation Crimson Heist will also bring a new secondary weapon known as the GONNE- 6 that will be available to some of the attackers. It is a single-shot hand cannon-type weapon that shoots an explosive projectile that can destroy defenders’ gadgets, as well as punch holes in soft walls. This weapon is a rather risky choice for the operators as there is only one shot, so they will have to make it count.
MATCH REPLAYS AND STREAMER MODE:
The much-anticipated match replay feature will finally arrive in beta form exclusively for PC. This feature will allow players to re-watch and analyze their previous matches from different points of view.
Year 6 season 1 will also see the launch of streamer mode on the test server of Rainbow Six Siege. This feature will not only allow the streamers to hide their personal information from the viewers but will also restrict the amount of stream sniping and queue sniping within Siege.
OPERATOR’S PRICE DECREASE
Prices of several operators will be reduced for Operation Crimson Heist. Oryx and Iana’s prices will drop to 20000 Renown or 480 R6 Credits, Mozzie and Gridlock will cost 15000 Renown or 360 R6 credits and finally, Lion and Finka will cost 10,000 Renown or 240 R6 Credits.
Apart from the ones that are mentioned above, Operation Crimson Heist will also feature several smaller yet noteworthy updates as well. You can check them on Ubisoft’s official page.
