Yes, playing as a block of meat stuck between a loop of hundreds of death and well-timed runs is fun. If you ever loved Super Mario Bros., chances are that you will like this game too. The Meat Team took the classic design, replaced Mario with a block of meat upgraded the platform, and made it brisk with smooth controls with a bonus bit of delight at the end of each level. This simple gameplay and lovely animation make Super Meat Boy a staple in the indie games community.

7) Papers, Please

Developed by 3909 LLC, this game takes place at a migration checkpoint, where you set to work manning the borders of your country. You have to review every immigrant and return citizen’s passports against an escalating list of rules using provided tools and guides, allowing only those with proper paperwork and rejecting those without proper paperwork and falsified information. All this while also maintaining your private finances. Papers, Please is set as an example of an empathy game in the indie games genre and was also named as one of the top games of 2013.

6) Enter the Gungeon

Not like classic dungeon crawler games, Enter the Gungeon provides the players with guns. Also, instead of unchaining the princess trapped in the dungeon somewhere, the final goal of this game is to find a gun that can kill someone’s past and use it to end the protagonist’s past regrets. Apart from being hilarious, isn’t that highly relatable?

Another indie game with a huge fanbase, Enter the Gungeon provides players with an exhilarating experience.

5) Hollow Knight

Who doesn’t love a game with creepy aesthetics and insane boss battles? Hollow Knights provide you with just that. Team Cherry did an exceptionally great job designing and developing this game. A nameless knight traveling through an ancient plague-infested kingdom, fighting insects and uncovering mysteries. With a huge amount of DLC available, you’re guaranteed to spend a good amount of time playing this game, collecting things and, unlocking new abilities to progress. Hollow Knights have sold over 3 million copies as of December 2020 and also has a sequel in development, Hollow Knight: Silksong.

4) Dead by Daylight

Dead by Daylight is maybe one of the only games which turned survival horror into a classical PVP experience. The game is really simple. One player is the deadly killer going up against 3 survivors. With regular updates, this game has added global villains from every possible spectrum of entertainment. For people who don’t really like horror games, the PVP part of this game is sure to amaze them.

3) Undertale

Imagine an RPG game where you don’t have to kill anybody. In Undertale, you play as a child who falls underground into the world of monsters. Undertale may be the only game that allows you to make it to the end without killing a single enemy which again totally depends on the choices you make. It’s one of those games in the indie community which provides people more than just simple RPG action; offers a totally different experience.

2) Shovel Knight

Defeating enemies, finding chests, digging through the environment, Shovel knights offers a fun gameplay overall.
